92nd Street Y
92nd Street Y's mission is to enrich the lives of the over 300,000 people who visit each year — both in person and through 92Y's satellite, television, radio and Internet broadcasts. The organization offers comprehensive performing arts, film and spoken word events; courses in the humanities, the arts, personal development and Jewish culture; activities and workshops for children, teenagers and parents; and health and fitness programs for people of every age. Committed to making its programs available to everyone, 92nd Street Y awards nearly $1 million in scholarships annually and reaches out to 7,000 public school children through fully subsidized arts education programs.
The Lillian and Sol Goldman Family Center for Youth and Family promotes the healthy development and growth of children and families. From classes for parents-to-be to extensive after-school activities, the center provides a supportive, non-competitive environment that encourages children and families to reach their maximum potential. Its programs include the award-winning Parenting Center, the Nursery School, the 92Y After-School Center, and nine summer camps.
The May Center for Health, Fitness & Sport promotes the essential aspects of well-being through all stages of life with emphasis on exercise, healthful living and nutrition. The Centers complex, which includes a 25-yard pool and two gyms, offers 100 fitness classes weekly, expert training and services. One of the Centers defining features is its emphasis on health care and disease prevention through programs such as cardiac rehab, nutrition, Parkinsons Exercise Program and partnerships with leading New York hospitals.
The Charles Simon Center for Adult Life and Learning offers a unique blend of social, educational and cultural programs for adults at every stage of their lives. In addition to bringing the worlds finest minds to 92Ys stages in its prestigious 92Y Talks series, the Center offers diverse growth, career development, humanities and language classes. Its Himan Brown Senior Program fosters creativity, lifelong learning, wellness and community for adults over the age of 60. Operating under the Centers auspices, 92Y Residence offers housing to students, interns and young professionals.
