Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
Overview
Established in 1981, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan serves as a common solicitor, storehouse and distributor of food in 22 Eastern Michigan counties. By networking with over 700 hunger relief partners, the Food Bank distributes 28 Million pounds of food that reaches over 331,000 food insecure individuals annually. With a focus on nutrition, nearly 50% of all food distributed includes fresh produce, dairy and meat. The Hunger Solution Center's production kitchen serves nearly 900,000 meals annually, through children's feeding programs that surpass the USDA's nutritional guidelines, and nearly 13,000 children receive weekend backpacks of food, during the school year, to ensure no child goes hungry over the weekend.

Programs
The food bank of eastern michigan operates in 22 counties in eastern michigan, and alleviates hunger by procuring, transporting, sorting, storing and distributing food to over 400 member partner agencies who serve over 350,000 food insecure children, senior citizens, and families annually. The food bank also provides numerous programs and services to combat hunger that include: school year and summer youth feeding programs, snap outreach & enrollment, school backpack program, school pantry program, senior grocery box, mass food distributions, and food and/or fresh produce mobile distributions.
