The mission of the Eastern Market Corporation is to mobilize leadership and resources to achieve stakeholders vision for the Eastern Market District and make the Eastern Market the undisputed center for fresh and nutritious food in southeast Michigan. Our vision includes strengthening the identity of the Eastern Market as a food-related district by enhancing the operations of the existing public market and by developing business opportunities for specialty food retailers, food wholesale operations, restaurants, food distributors, and food processors.

The State Fair of West Virginia is an annual state fair for West Virginia, United States. It is held annually in mid-August on the State Fairgrounds in Fairlea, near Lewisburg, West Virginia in the southeastern part of the state. The next Fair will run from 6-15 August.
The amazing Don C. has reached another milestone: 1000 food trips completed! Don joined our volunteer team in February 2016 and hasn’t stopped since; he has rescued more than 27 tons of food. 27 tons! He has several regular routes each week, plus he fills in during other days of the week when he sees trips available that fit with his schedule. Don also initiated the process that led ExtraFood to start a food program for food-insecure students in 2016 at the College of Marin. He has formed very close relationships with the recipient partners and food donors that he connects with each week, and he has demonstrated extraordinary dedication, dependability and passion for our mission. Don is an inspiration to all and has truly made an enormous difference in our community through his work with ExtraFood.

A Healthy Snack from Just Roots — Just Roots piloted its first student snack market at The Discovery School at Four Corners in the fall of 2013. For eight consecutive weeks, the gym at The Discovery School at Four Corners was converted into Just Roots’ Snack Market on Tuesday mornings. Students waited eagerly in line before arriving at the first “sampling” station where they were able to choose a fruit or vegetable to sample. At the second station, students were given a sticker to mark their preferences on a like/dislike chart. At the third station, students had the opportunity to use a special Just Roots coupon to purchase a snack sized portion, similar to making a purchase at a farm stand.
Vegan Outreach works to end violence towards animals. Vegan Outreach seeks a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities. Vegan Outreach focuses on exposing the suffering of farmed animals through the widespread distribution of our booklets promoting plant-based eating. We distribute our booklets primarily through our Adopt a College program, in which our outreach coordinators and volunteers hand our booklets to about 1 million students at up to 1,000 schools every semester. We also distribute our booklets at concerts, festivals, and other places where we're likely to find potentially receptive individuals.
